How to use the tools

Start simple, then add detail only when needed

The quick tools are designed for fast answers. The full planner is for repeat jobs, real saw settings, saved profiles and cleaner printed cutting sheets.

Quick calculateUse this for one repeated length, such as 40 pieces from the same bar size. Enter material, shape, section size, quantity, stock length and kerf.
Quick optimiseUse this when the main question is how to cut a list from stock bars or existing remnants. You can let CutSimply calculate bars required or limit it to a fixed stock quantity.
Full plannerUse this for job references, machine profiles, blade condition, coolant, stamping delay, deburr time, costing and calibration.
UnitsMillimetres, centimetres, metres, inches and feet are supported. Decimal values work, and imperial inputs can also use simple fractions such as 1 1/2 or explicit entries like 6ft 2in.

What the main boxes mean

Most cutting-plan errors come from incorrect kerf, stock length, trim allowance or quantity. These are worth checking before trusting a result.

KerfThe blade width/material lost per cut. A small kerf difference can matter a lot on high-quantity jobs.
Trim allowanceMaterial removed or ignored at the end of a new bar before useful cutting starts, such as damaged ends or squareness allowance.
Existing offcuts/remnantsLengths already in the rack. CutSimply tries these before opening new stock bars.
Keep offcuts overThe length where you consider a remaining piece worth keeping rather than treating it as short scrap.
